Every year the Emmy’s roll around, and every year they remind me of how much TV I DON’T watch. It seems like that’s all I do and yet, I have so much to catch up on! It’s like a vicious circle of never ending must see’s that are going to kill me before I actually make a dent. –sighs But I digress. Let’s talk about the actual awards, shall we?
This year the award show was hosted by Mister Jimmy Fallon. Now, I’m not going to pretend like I love Jimmy. Cause I’m not a huge fan. He seems like a nice guy, who I’d love to hang out with. But his awkwardness isn’t endearing to me. And I usually find awkward endearing. It’s hard for me to watch his talk show, and the only time I liked him on SNL was when he did the weekend updates. But I have to eat my words now, because Jimmy Fallon was thoroughly entertaining. The opening was cute. Loved Tina Fey. There friendship is adorable. And then, through out the show, I found myself giggling at his jokes. And he did one of the best things in the entire show. He gave Tom Selleck a giant hug. Sellecks reaction alone was worth watching the entire 2 and a half hours before it. So, Jimmy Fallon: I apologize for doubting you. Now, if you could just practice your interview skills maybe I’ll watch your show more. On to the lists
Things I liked:
1.Jimmy Fallon’s opening sketch with Tina Fey and the glee kids. PLUS, Joel McHale dancing? Ummm, yes please. And that whole Kate Gossling thing was pretty hilarious as well.
2.“I’d like to thank the academy for allowing a gay man to host the Emmy’s two years in a row. Congratulations Jimmy, you’re doing a great job.” Neil, you are so yummy…oh and you were funny as well.
3.The Modern Family sketch with Clooney. Enough said.
4.Clooney’s acceptance speech for humanitarian award. He got a standing O! And he was all cute and embarrassed. What a sweetie.
5.Yes, I think steward deserved to win for best comedy writing in a variety show. He had a fantastic year! Conan shouldn’t get it just cause of all the controversy. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some CoCo. I’m just saying…Stewart’s Glenn Beck alone!!! See the below video. I would have also been happy if Colbert won. The man shaved his hair off. CoCo wouldn’t shave those luscious locks.
6.Fallon’s singing a medley for the TV shows that we’d “lost” this season. His impressions were great.
7.Jewel’s song was pretty! I sniffled. Don’t judge me.
8.Temple Grandin. Loved her.
9.Ricky Gervais! As always. “"Mel Gibson...no I’m not gonna have a go at him. He's had a rough time....not as rough as the Jews"
10.And last, but not lease cause I feel like I forgot something, Jane Lynch. She deserved it. No doubt in my mind. ALSO Jim Parsons. I haven’t seen that much of the show, but I’ve seen him and I think he’s so unknowingly funny. I just love it when the talent doesn’t comprehend how much talent they have. Keep on being funny, Jim!
And, honestly, the things I didn’t like are the normal complaints for award shows. Too long. Too many commercials. Same old, same old right? Oh and of course, Neil Patrick Harris not winning for HIMYM. You think giving him an Emmy for his Glee appearance makes up for that? …alright it sort of does. But still, what does the man have to do to get that statue! He MADE last season. So there you go. The more I think about it the more I really enjoyed the show. I’m proud of Jimmy Fallon. And I’m proud of the academy for having two good shows in a row. Let’s aim for three!

Nice! Ricky Gervais' jab at Mel Gibson was the joke of the night!
ReplyDeleteNeil Patrick Harris should have won, hands down! I thought Glee was going to be overexposed at the Emmy's, but it seems everyone was sucking Modern Family's balls that night.
Jewel's song of the In Memorium segment was...brilliant. Nuff said.
Jane Lynch FTW!
